We are pleased to announce that Makiko Kawamura has joined the Tokyo International Law Office team.

Makiko brings a wealth of experience from her time working at a prominent global law firm as a regional head of tax practice, where she represented large multinational corporations, foreign governments, and private equity funds in various corporate and tax matters.  Her strength is to provide seamless legal/tax services to international clients in areas of cross border M&A, global reorganization, joint venture, licensing etc.  Makiko also has experience in transfer pricing such as Advanced Pricing Agreements and Mutual Agreement Procedures as well as customs audit matters dealing with the customs authorities.

In 2021, she joined Big 4 accounting firm as a partner of International Transaction Tax Services where she provided tax planning and tax advisory services, produced tax opinions, handled tax audits and disputes for multinational clients.

The addition of Makiko to the firm will further support our commitment to deliver successful outcomes for clients.
