Yumi Ahn joins the Tokyo International Law Office team.
We are pleased to announce that Yumi Ahn has joined the Tokyo International Law Office team.
Yumi’s most recent experience prior to joining Tokyo International Law Office includes acting as external general counsel to a Web3 startup and a climate tech startup, and being seconded to a digital bank startup in Singapore, assisting them on wide-ranging legal matters, including corporate financing, M&A, employment, corporate governance and regulatory matters to support the clients’ business in Southeast Asia.
Yumi also acted as Senior Counsel, Asia at Aon, overseeing all contracts, strategic partnerships and policies with / involving insurance companies in 12 countries in Asia, including Japan, as well as advising the company on its proprietary insurtech platforms and catastrophic bond transactions.
Yumi’s experience in private practice includes working at leading US firms in Singapore in project finance, M&A and capital markets transactions in Asia, and she was seconded to the Tokyo office of a US firm for 8 months in 2015-2016, serving major trading houses in Japan.
Yumi is originally from Korea, educated in the UK and the US with work experience in Korea, the US and Singapore. She recently acquired a Certified Information Privacy Professional / Asia (CIPP/A) certification, and looks forward to providing optimal service to clients along with the TKI lawyers, especially at a time when there is a growing interest in the Japan market among the international investors and market players in Web3 and climate tech industries.
